Jody has almost 40 years of experience as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. As the Director of Client Services at the San Diego Center for the Blind for 29 years, she worked extensively with individuals and their families adjusting to blindness who often experience significant depression, anxiety, grieving, loss of self-confidence, and self-esteem. She has found that the strategies used in coping with severe life changes are universally effective. She finds Existential methods useful in increasing self-awareness leading to greater self-confidence; and Cognitive Behavioral methods successful in creating positive change. She also believes it is important to recognize the effects of family dynamics. Jody has taught Counseling skills at the university level for master’s degree candidates. She is familiar with and tends to integrate other therapeutic models and interventions as is appropriate for the individual or family she is working with.
